...that I'm really excited to get my loaner/rental tomorrow? As long as it isn't a Chrysler 200 I'll be happy. I'm guessing either a Versa or a Spark.

I had an Avenger with the Pentastar V6 as a rental once, it wasn't too bad. The engine had plenty of power, but was matched with the worst transmission ever, which necessitated planning out your shifts 2-3 seconds ahead of time if you were picking them. It also had terrible rear-view visibility, and a suspicious stain on the passenger seat. Okay, who am I kidding? It was terrible.

Loaner cars can be a mixed bag.

Pretty much all the loaners my family has had have been GM.

- 2003 Oldsmobile Alero: Not great, but not awful.

- 2002 Chevrolet Malibu: Like the Alero, but only slightly worse.

- 2001 Daewoo Leganza: Horrible. But at least it had a lot of room inside.

- 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Classic: First loaner we had that was above decent. Ended up getting a 2010.5 Malibu not too long after.

- 2008 Suzuki Forenza: Actually a good bit better than most people tend to claim it to be. The nice shade of red it was coated in was nice, too.

No. Everyone loves a car that they give absolutely, positively zero fucks about. I'd take a rental to Moab if I thought I could take it back with a straight face and tell them the damage was already there.

I'm expecting it to be kind of shitty, but I can't help but be excited to drive a car I haven't before.

It seems I always get a Camry... Geez those are horrible for more than about 10 minutes with one.

I had a Mazda 2 in Connecticut. That transmission was garbage and only the driver's window would go up or down after turning off the car, so frustrating. But at least it had an aux imput.

You are not using it properly, let me help..

(while stopped)

Step 1: Turn off traction control

Step 2: Parking Brake

Step 2: Stomp the throttle to the floor as quickly as possible

Step 3: Tire smoke

Step 4: Repeat...

But aside from that, yeah they are pretty useless and have the most lifeless steering feel EVER.

The steering is what killed me. There is a nice set of curves on my way to work, and I swear the only reason I knew I was going through the curves was the insanely soft suspension rolling me through them...

I also found I cared about that stupid eco light WAY too much.

Yeah, that was my take away as well. I always try to give every car I drive a little bit of 10/10ths (in as safe an environment as I can find). The camry struck me as borderline dangerous in it's lack of feel. It has the unique ability of understeering with the best of them while communicating none of it to the driver.

I wouldn't say no to the new 200.

I've only rented twice. Once was a 2009ish impala, which stands as one of the worst driving cars I've ever experienced. Other was a 2012 Focus, and while it wasn't bad I wasn't a big fan
